What is Science?

Science is tolerated as a necessity because it makes our lives more comfortable, yet many don’t see why most students need to learn science. Science is a method, process, procedure and system used to study the physical world. If you can see, feel, hear, taste, smell or measure something, science will investigate.

Science is not just a collection of facts. Of course, facts are an important part of Science but Science is much, much more!

On the 22nd September 2007, I and a dear friend did a teaching on ‘infectious diseases’ for Primary 5 Science at the Sekolah Rendah Mabohai using ICT.

We did a recap lesson on this topic. We used powerpoint slides throughout the lesson. The lesson was divided into two parts. The first and second part were done by me and then my friend.

It started with an induction of a video clip. Another video clip was also used in part two. At the end of the lesson, we did an oral questioning and a written exercise. Later, those who finished early could play an online game linked to the lesson itself.

Overall, the students enjoyed the lesson. The observing teachers gave positive feedback. Please click here for the assessment.

There are 13 different Fishy Fraction Games you can play here.

Work your way down the left-hand column of games and then down the right-hand column of games. They get harder as you go along. But that is ok, you are also getting better at Maths as you go along!!

Click on a game then click on [Begin Game], you will be asked to register but don’t do that, just click on the button that says [Maybe Later].

Let me know how you are doing in the comments to this post or email me ;)
